New News 1/30/2012: Poll below -- PLEASE RESPOND
I just talked with Locust Valley. They are unable to find a second
league with whom we could alternate front/back nines, so they will not
allow our league to reserve a block of tee times for the 2012 season.
They already have an unofficial twilight league on Friday, but it's
first come, first served -- no reserved tee times. We could continue to
run our league in a similar way: designate a preferred evening to get
together, but still leave it up to each pair of players to play their
match. The only issues might be:
- We'd always play the front nine. The course never starts groups on #10.
- Your league twosome might get grouped with random members of the public.
- When the weather's nice, you might need to wait your turn to start.
Another option is to move our league to Olde Homestead. They are still
able to accommodate a league of 24 players on Monday or Thursday
evenings, on terms similar to what we enjoyed at Center Valley Club:
- 4:15 start in April and Sept; 4:30 start just inside those dates, and 4:45 or later start in the middle of the summer.
- $22 includes range balls, cart, and a bottle of water.
- 9-hole league, but you may play on until dark.
- Flexible make-up policy at the league rate, within reason (no Saturday morning, of course).
- GHIN handicap service
One advantage of Olde Homestead is that it drains better than CVC or Locust.
If we play Olde Homestead on Monday, there's another league with which
we could alternate front/back nines. If we play on Thursday, then we'd
end up with about 50% on each side, but it would not alternate weekly.
Please respond to edschulz@ptd.net
to express your preference. This is not a commitment (unless you're
already prepared to commit). Let's try the following choices:
1. I will play at LV, but not at OH.
2. I prefer LV, but would play at OH.
3. No preference: I will play at either LV or OH, whatever the group decides.
4. I prefer OH, but would play at LV.
5. I will play at OH, but not at LV.
In the same reply, let me know which day(s) of the week you prefer. In
the last poll, we came up with Thursday as first choice; Monday as
second.
If none of the above, then choose:
a. I will not commit to a league, but do keep me on this mail list.
b. Please remove me from this mail list.
Did I miss any reasonable choices? Note that Wedgewood league slots are
already full, and several of us would not play in a Wedgewood league
anyway. Whitetail would accept a league, but that's also a long ride
from Center Valley.

10/4/11: Center Valley Club is closed. Check back to this page to see what we do for 2012.
4/4/11: We have again filled the league with 24 members.
If you want to be on the waiting list in case someone drops, send me a
note at the link below.
This is the fifth season of the Center Valley Club Monday Evening League in its current form.
It is an individual, match + stroke play, handicap league.
Our target is to have 24 members. Everyone plays each other once, for a 23-week season.
League tee times are usually between 4:30 and 5:10 p.m.
every Monday. Our first match is on April 18, 2011. Because we'll skip
the three holidays in 2011, Match 23 is on October 10. If you cannot
play your match on Monday, Center Valley Club offers several times
during the week that you can reschedule at the league rate of $25.
Contact Ed (at the bottom of this page) if you want a login to this web site.
Once logged in, you can see the roster and all the current season scores, plus the league policies and procedures.
One unique feature (accessible only during the active season) is a tee time reservation system for the league. You can reserve one of the league tee times for 1, 2, 3, or 4 players.
You can also see who is playing when. This avoids any confusion or waiting once you arrive at the course.
